Dale Watson sets tour to support new album

Thursday, April 12, 2007 – Dale Watson will launch a tour in May in support of his new studio album, “From The Cradle To The Grave,” set for release April 24 on Hyena. The touring will mark the beginning of a year long promotional push that will find Watson performing throughout the U.S. plus Europe and Australia.Watson recorded the disc at Johnny Cash’s Tennessee mountain cabin, which was lent to him by its current owner and old friend, Johnny Knoxville. He made the record following his return from a brief sabbatical in music. He had left his Austin hometown temporarily to live in Baltimore with his two daughters for the first half of 2006.

Watson said, “When I got up there to the cabin, I didn’t have anything new to record. The band and I were just getting back into it. So I wound up writing 10 songs in 3 days. At first, I was adamant about not doing anything even remotely reminiscent to Johnny Cash because I figured I’d be instantly dismissed for trying to cop his vibe. But his presence was so strong up there that I decided why fight it, let the chips fall where they may and go with the feeling.”

A video for “Justice For All,” directed by James Intveld and starring Desperate Housewives’ James Denton, was shot as well.
