TEXAS FREEDOM NETWORK
TO CELEBRATE 12TH ANNIVERSARY
WITH ‘LET FREEDOM SING’ GALA

October Event to Spotlight Live Music, Live & Silent Auctions, and More

AUSTIN, Texas — Passion and patriotism will flow in song as Texas Freedom Network (TFN) marks its 12th year with a fundraising gala in October at Austin Music Hall featuring live music, live and silent auctions, and more.

The party, open to members and non-members of TFN, is set for Saturday, October 6, at Austin Music Hall, 208 Nueces St., with silent and live auctions conducted by a celebrity event emcee. Event, sponsorship and ticket information: 512.322.0545 or http://www.tfn.org.

Headlining the evening will be Skyrocket!, the seven-piece Austin dance band that will bring guests to their feet with its ’70s super-hits. Soulful singer Ruthie Foster, backed by her band, will kick off the evening’s musical entertainment.

Skyrocket! (formerly K-Tel Hit Machine) is known for its shows featuring the more obscure funny disco, glam-rock, soft-rock and solid-gold hits of the 1970s. Formed by musicians entrenched in Austin’s music scene for years, Skyrocket! is not jut a cover band going through the motions but a professional, streetwise group of artists honoring their craft and influences and energizing audiences with the hits that mark moments in people’s lives. Foster’s latest album, “The Phenomenal Ruthie Foster,” humbly and powerfully reveals a rare vulnerability in songs that reverberate with her soul, blues, R&B, and gospel roots. In the 10 years since her first release, she has consistently impressed peers, audiences and music writers, who have heaped praise and sales on her and her subsequent albums. Proceeds from the anniversary celebration and live and silent auctions will go to fund TFN programs. For more information, visit http://www.tfn.org or call 512.322.0545.

During the recent Texas legislative session, Texas Freedom Network Rapid Response Team members lobbied in support of strong public schools, stem cell research, responsible sex education and religious freedom and against private school vouchers and efforts to ban or restrict foster parenting by gay and lesbian families.

The Texas Freedom Network is a nonpartisan, grass-roots, volunteer-based organization of 27,000 religious and community leaders that advances a mainstream agenda supporting public education, religious freedom and individual liberties to counter the radical right.
